MDTP #104: Begin the Monday Meeting with a Travel Report

Most teams start their Monday meeting with numbers, pending sales, volume, or leaderboard rankings. But numbers don’t tell the whole story.

Here’s a better way to start your week: begin every Monday meeting with a “Travel Report.”

Go around the room and have each team member share where they traveled for a client over the weekend or during the past seven days.

Maybe it was a 90-minute drive to show acreage. Maybe it was a Sunday evening tour after dinner. Maybe it was helping a buyer relocate from out of town.

This simple ritual changes the energy of the meeting. Instead of spotlighting only results, you highlight effort and commitment, the actions that actually create results.

It reminds your team that success isn’t just about closings, it’s about showing up for clients when others don’t.

When you hear an agent say, “I drove to Lake Chelan twice this weekend for showings,” that’s an opportunity.
Ask:

  • “What did they like most?”
  • “What’s holding them back from writing an offer?”
  • “How can we help them find the right home?”

That’s where deal-making happens — in the trenches of activity.

You’ll also uncover something else: many of your agents are working nights and weekends, but not always getting credit for it. Recognizing that builds morale and culture. And for those who had no showings? The message is clear without criticism, “You need to get something on the books this week.”

One rule: never belittle your team. No one is inspired to attend a meeting where the leader criticizes or shames. Recognition drives momentum; guilt drives silence.

Celebrate movement. Reward effort. Coach through action.

That’s leadership.
