Million Dollar Team Principles #55: People will leave teams because the leader is inconsistent and stay because the leader is consistent in their commitment to growth.
When you’re modeling top team leaders, don’t study what they’re doing today…
…study what they did to get where they are today.
When I opened the doors to my independent brokerage in 2012, I asked myself:
- “What will we be world-class at?”
- “What will we be known for, undisputed, in our market?”
The answer:
- World-class training that rivaled top teams nationwide
- Undisputed dominance in local real estate marketing
These two things became our cornerstones.
From March 2012 to April 2020, I personally led a live sales meeting every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Let’s do the math:
- 5 days a week
- 52 weeks a year
- For 8 years straight
That’s over 2,000 live sales meetings.
That’s 120,000+ minutes of face-to-face training, role play, mindset, and motivation.
Not one was virtual.
No Zooms. No hybrids.
You got out of bed. Brushed your teeth. Ironed your shirt. Got in your car. Showed up.
And nobody, staff or agents, booked over that 9 AM time slot.

Was it the content that built top producers?
Maybe.
Or was it simply the consistency of showing up when the rest of the industry didn’t?
You tell me.
Here’s the catch…
- You can’t wing your meetings.
- You can’t fake it.
Meetings are the single most important hour of your day.
It’s the moment you have your team’s full attention.
And every day, you must deliver value, growth, and belief.
That pressure forces you to grow faster than anyone else:
- You read more
- You prepare more
- You get better at your craft
People ask how I became a great speaker.
It’s simple.
I played in front of a small crowd every day for a decade.
