What’s the most dangerous threat to your real estate team?
It’s not the market.
It’s not your competition.
It’s this:
Your top agents stop growing , or worse, they leave.
If it hasn’t happened to you yet, it will.
The cold truth?
Everyone on your team will leave you.
Your job is to make the most of the time you have together.
At the start of each day, remind yourself:
“This might be the last day I get to work with [insert name]. Let’s make it count.”
At the end of the day, reflect:
“Did I give them enough reason to want to come back tomorrow?”
This mindset will change how you lead.
Andy Grove, legendary CEO of Intel, said it best:
“Only the paranoid survive.”
But don’t confuse retention with complacency.
You must always be recruiting.
Let’s say it again:
Never. Ever. Ever. Stop. Hiring.

You wouldn’t take your best listing off the market, would you?
Then why stop searching for talent?
- Post hiring ads for positions you’ve already filled.
- Post ads for positions you’ll someday need.
- Never stop talking to great salespeople.
Salespeople are volatile by nature.
They burn hot, burn out, or bounce.
That’s reality. Accept it,and build for it.
You’re in a race to Mars,and the only way you make it is with people smarter than you.
Ask yourself:
Are you the smartest person in the room?
If so, you’re the ceiling.
John D. Rockefeller once said:
“The secret to success is to do the common thing uncommonly well,
and to surround yourself with people who are better than you.”
So ask:
- Who owns recruiting in your company?
- Who wakes up thinking, How do I increase the collective genius of our team today?
- Who’s relentlessly searching for the next all-star?
If the answer is no one, you’ve already lost ground.
Build a team so smart, so talented…
it scares you a little.
That’s how you win.
And it all starts with one principle:
Always. Be. Hiring.
