Because You’re Not Acting Like a Local Thought Leader
Million Dollar Team Principle #29: Team Leader = Thought Leader
The team leader isn’t just the person who writes the checks or signs off on lead budgets.
The team leader is the rainmaker.
Not a portal. Not a lead source.
A source of influence.
And influence doesn’t begin with followers or likes,it starts locally.
We live in an age where everyone wants to be a national name, thinking that it trickles down to local sales.
But if you study the great builders of American wealth and legacy,
The Walton family in Arkansas,
The Rockefellers in New York,
The Vanderbilts in North Carolina and Tennessee,
They didn’t start with nationwide attention.
They owned their backyard first.
They served locally, hired locally, donated locally, and became irreplaceable to the people who lived nearest to them.
As a team leader, your job is to oversee your marketplace.
You’re no longer running around in a car every weekend showing homes.
You have leverage,now use it.

Start by asking yourself:
- Who are the 100 most influential people in your town, city, or county?
- Do they know your name?
- Have you bought them coffee or lunch?
- Have you donated to a cause they run or support?
After we had our third year as a team, closing 300 homes, I called a friend who had sold 500 homes in a small market like mine. I wanted to know how to scale further.
His response?
“How much money did you give back to your community last year?”
My answer: None. I was too busy building my business.
He paused.
“I didn’t scale until I gave back,” he said.
That stuck with me. And he was right.
Want to grow your team?
Grow from the inside out!

PS. Let’s dive into your lead sources. Email me to get on my calendar, and we will do a lead source audit. I find the lead source you don’t have that works, and eliminate those you pay for that don’t.
